Dr. Jay Apte, Dean and Principal
Dr. Jay Apte is the most experienced, India trained Ayurveda practitioner in the Bay Area and Silicon Valley. She has an integrated degree in Allopathic and Ayurvedic Medicine from Pune University in India. In addition, she also has a Master’s degree in bio-medical sciences (Pharmacology) from University of North Texas.
After graduating in 1973, she has practiced Ayurveda for more than 35 years, nearly 30 years in the US – first in Dallas, Texas and now in Mountain View, California.
Dr. Jay Apte has been offering Ayurvedic education since 1995 in the U.S. She founded Ayurveda Institute of America in 1995 in Texas and then in California. Hundreds of students, around the country, have graduated from her school and are spreading the wisdom of Ayurveda. Recently, she founded AyuVidya College of America (ACA) in Mountain View, CA to continue to teach Ayurveda and create Ayurvedic practitioners that will offer holistic wisdom to their communities.
Rashana Rauniar Sharma, Program Administrator
Rashana Rauniar Sharma, is an accomplished holistic practitioner of natural alternate healing therapies – Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Reiki. Rashana has an advanced diploma certificate of Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner (AWP) in Ayurveda from Ayurveda Institute of America. She has been running her own private practice in the Bay Area for the past 12 years, helping clients to combat many chronic health issues and regain health and happiness through natural ways.
She has assisted Dr. Jay Apte in Ayurvedic therapies, including Panchakarma, and has been a Program Coordinator for the Ayurveda Institute of America for many years. Now she is excited to be a program administrator of our new program at Ayuvidya College of America.
She will responsible for the smooth running of the program, and will assist students to successfully complete their education.
Shubhada Puntambekar, Program Coordinator
Shubhada Puntambekar is also a former student of Dr. Jay’s Ayurveda Institute of America. She holds a masters degree in commerce, and after working in an educational institution for few years, she decided to pursue her interest in Ayurvedic healing practices. She prepares Ayurvedic products from her knowledge in Ayurvedic herbology and also teaches cooking classes.
She has been working at Dr. Jay’s Ayurveda and Panchakarma center assisting clients by assessing their needs, and coordinating the activities of the Panchakarma department. She is the program coordinator. She will coordinate the faculty and students activities and assist Rashana to run the program smoothly.
